Removing Photos from iPhoto

Despite iPhoto's long history, many people continue to be confused about exactly what happens when you delete a photo. There are three possibilities.

If you delete a photo from an album, book, card, calendar, or saved slideshow, the photo is merely removed from that item and remains generally available in your iPhoto library.

If, however, you delete a photo while in Events or Photos view, that act moves the photo to iPhoto's Trash. It's still available, but...

If you then empty iPhoto's Trash, all photos in it will be deleted from the iPhoto library and from your hard disk.

HTML Enhancements Highlight BBEdit 5.0 -- Bare Bones Software has released BBEdit 5.0, featuring enhancements to the text editor's already strong HTML support, multi-file searching capabilities, and new JavaScript and Perl syntax coloring. Using the new Tag Maker and Edit Tag commands, BBEdit helps users streamline the Web coding process by providing context-sensitive tagging options. A new SGML (Standardized General Markup Language) parser improves the HTML syntax checking feature. The new version also adds a Set Menu Keys command to create keyboard shortcuts for common tasks. BBEdit 5.0 carries a $120 suggested retail price; owners of BBEdit Lite or competing Web authoring utilities pay $80. Owners of BBEdit 2.5 and later can upgrade for $40 (plus shipping and handling) direct from Bare Bones Software; those who purchased BBEdit 4.5 after 01-Aug-98, or who bought Dreamweaver (which includes BBEdit) on or after 06-Nov-98, can receive a free upgrade. A 2.6 MB demo is available. [JLC]
