Adobe Acrobat and Reader 9.3.3
Adobe Acrobat 9.3.3 and Reader 9.3.3 are security updates to the longstanding PDF creation and viewing applications. The updates address several critical vulnerabilities, including one in Flash 10.0.45.2 that could be exploited by an attacker to take control of a user’s system after a program crash. There are reports that this vulnerability is being actively exploited in the wild, so we recommend updating right away. (Free update, 86.62/8.03 MB)
I've been attempting to update Acrobat for weeks. The lousy application won't permit it. Adobe has done nothing to correct this circumstance.
Many folks are encountering the same problematic update issues. I guess the battle between Apple and Adobe is at our expense.
This isn't an Apple/Adobe issue - this is purely Adobe making truly lousy updaters, which has been true for many years.
If you've renamed or moved anything related to the original installation, you'll have to fix that before upgrading. And if that doesn't work, you may have to reinstall from scratch, and then upgrade that fresh installation.
I've had to do both in various times, and in fact, I haven't upgraded my copy of Acrobat Pro 9 yet because of this. Just too much hassle.
I really wish Adobe would use something simple and effective, like Sparkle.
Reader 9.3.3 will install the AdobePDFViewer.plugin into /Library/Internet Plug-ins/ without asking. Prior versions would hang.

I allowed Acrobat to update to 9.3.3 and it crashed my computer. After the restart I could not get it to start anymore so I took the HD, battery, CD-Rom, memory and everything I could take out, not even CMOS will come up. Finally did get it to boot and Windows came up and left it on while I went to the other room. Came back and it was dead, nothing. So I went through trying to get it to boot again, nothing. After 3 days I got it to boot and I removed Acrobat and reinstalled version 8. It has been running fine ever since. Is there something wrong with 9.3.3?
