Mac OS X Zip Expanding Utility

Firefox (and possibly other applications) may ask you what you want to do with .zip archives that you download from the Internet. If you want to expand them with Mac OS X (rather than StuffIt Expander), you may be unsure of which application actually does the job. You're looking for Archive Utility (in Leopard and later) or BOMArchiveHelper (in Tiger). In either case, the application is stored in Hard Drive/System/Library/Core Services/. Don't move it from there, though, or you'll confuse matters.

Typinator 4.2

Send Article to a Friend

Ergonis continues in its quest to save your overworked fingers with the release of Typinator 4.2, the latest update to its popular typing automator. The update corrects a problem with Mac OS X 10.6.5 where certain characters would prevent abbreviations from expanding properly. It also fixes issues with expansion in iTunes 10, Outlook 2011, and 4D Client; works around an issue with Safari suggestions in the address field; and corrects a problem where Typinator would stop working when more than 100 sets were installed. Full release notes are available on Ergonis’s Web site. (Free update, €19.99, 3.1 MB)
