Option-Click AirPort Menu for Network Details

If you hold down the Option key while clicking the AirPort menu in Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, you'll see not just the names of nearby Wi-Fi networks, but additional details about the selected network. Details include the MAC address of the network, the channel used by the base station, the signal strength (a negative number; the closer to zero it is, the stronger the signal), and the transmit rate in megabits per second showing actual network throughput. If you hover the cursor over the name of a network to which you're not connected, a little yellow pop-up shows the signal strength and type of encryption.

My Brother 2070 was working just fine. After applying the update it is no longer able to be found.

Advice: If it ain't broken, don't try fixing it!

For 10.6, one should note. I still use Leopard 10.5.8 so it was only after reading all abotu it that I relaized i don't need it!

The Tibits authors always assume we all use the latest version, not so. My partner uses 10.4.11 which is fine for her work.

I wish they would say which OS the subject of the article is for!

I updated as soon as Software Update notified me, and my Epson scanner immediately stopped being recognised by Preview.app
I then restored from a backup, and found that my HP and Epson printers didn't like the restored software (I'd probably done something wrong). After wasting nearly a day in fiddling around, I've just got one very minor issue unexplained.
When I updated, the release date was 13th January 2011. I see the release date is now 21st January 2011. It makes me wonder if there was a mistake, which has now been corrected.
I wish I hadn't bothered. It worked perfectly before.
