Dropbox 1.0.28
Perennial TidBITS favorite Dropbox has been updated to version 1.0.28. The minor release fixes a rare crash and includes a few other unspecified small tweaks. We tend to find that Dropbox fails to auto-update itself as it should, and indeed, it didn’t do so for me, so I downloaded and installed manually. You can check which version of Dropbox you’re running by hovering your mouse pointer over the Dropbox menu bar icon, or by clicking the icon, choosing Preferences, and then checking the Account tab. Surprisingly, it did auto-update for me. First time it ever did so. I expect to see dogs dancing with cats any moment now.

Didn't auto-update for me, but the process of updating manually took less than a minute.
I have version 0.7.110. Having until now deferred manual update because I had read that it would happen eventually automatically, I today tried to install the new update manually. All went well until I got the message 'The operation cannot be completed because the item 'Drpbox.app' is still in use'. How do I proceed, please?
You need to choose Quit Dropbox from the Dropbox menu bar icon's menu first.
Thanks very much. I thought it must be something simple. However, I now get 'Mounting failed" when I download. Sorry to be a nuisance.
That error sounds like you're getting a corrupted download of the Dropbox disk image. Perhaps try downloading using another Web browser, so you're definitely avoiding any caching?
Using Firefox instead of Safari I get Disk image failed to mount because device not configured. I think I also got this with Safari.
Was also on 0.7.110. Didn't realise it had moved on so far. Auto-update hadn't worked here either.
The pre-1.0 releases said that would update, but to my knowledge none did!
