The FBI Isn’t Much Help with Ransomware

If your computer becomes infected with ransomware, don’t bother calling the FBI, because the law enforcement agency will likely just advise you to pay the ransom. Why? Because the FBI can’t figure out how to defeat it. “The ransomware is that good,” said Joseph Bonavolonta, the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s CYBER and Counterintelligence Program. In the meantime, following the advice in Joe Kissell’s “Take Control of Security for Mac Users” book may be your best defense.
