Evernote Raises Prices, Downgrades Free Plan
Note-taking service Evernote has made some changes that are sure to be unpopular with users. First, while the free Basic tier is sticking around, it will now be limited to only two devices, whereas you could previously sync with unlimited devices. Second, both paid tiers are going up in price: Plus climbs from $2.99 per month or $24.99 per year to $3.99 per month or $34.99 per year, while Premium rises from $5.99 per month or $49.99 per year to $7.99 per month or $69.99 per year. Evernote is hoping to increase revenues amid a variety of executive departures and the elimination of a string of unprofitable projects.
I know people have all kinds of desired functionality for note-taking, and I'm no different. Evernote has been disappointing for a long time so this is no surprise. Meanwhile, Redmond seems to be working somewhat towards getting its game on again: https://www.thurrott.com/cloud/65227/microsoft-eases-transition-from-evernote-to-onenote
Between OneNote and DevonThink, I guess I am set.

Can you export your notes from Evernote?
I use Evernote regularly, but I don't need any more than what the Basic account provides, only very rarely bumping against the monthly upload limit. The feature which makes it stand out is the web clipper, though printing a web page to PDF achieves something similar if not so good.
When I received the email from Evernote about the changes, I was at first taken aback, and irritated at being forced either to find another solution or to pay for features I don't need. I run it on an iMac, MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad and losing two of these would be fatal to my workflow. However, reading the small print, I realised that I could remove the app from the Mac OS devices and keep it on the two iOS devices, using the web interface on the iMac and MacBook Pro.
A few days on and Evernote has enforced the downgrade while I am away from home and I have selected my iPhone and iPad to keep. I hope my reading of the situation is correct but if not, my backup plan is to use Devonthink Pro Office.
To continue, I have successfully imported all my Evernote notes to Devonthink Office Pro. I've realised that I may have to do some housekeeping to reduce the size of the database for use on the iOS devices as Devonthink to Go stores synced databases on the device, but I've never bothered removing old notes I no longer need from Evernote as the only limit is on uploads, not on the actual storage space used.
