Amazon Prime Reading Provides Kindle Books for Free
Voracious readers take note: Amazon has added another perk to its $99-per-year Amazon Prime program. Prime members can now download over 1000 books, comics, and Kindle Singles to their Kindles or Kindle apps for free. This benefit comes on top of Amazon Prime’s free 2-day shipping, free video streaming for thousands of movies and TV shows, free streaming of over one million songs, and more. The book selection is unsurprisingly random, with a few best-sellers like “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” and “The Hobbit” mixed in with titles and authors looking for an audience. On its own, Prime Reading isn’t a good reason to subscribe to Amazon Prime, but if you’re already a subscriber, it might be a good way to get something to read when you’re out of books. (The link goes to the list of Prime Reading books, something that’s otherwise hard to find.)
does this mean I can cancel my Kindle Unlimited service since I have Prime?
No, Kindle Unlimited provides access to many more books, as I understand it.
I am a Prime member and I followed the link, which took me to the page of Prime Reading Eligible books. I clicked on one of the titles and it wanted me to start a 30-day free trial of Kindle Unlimited. Alternatively, I could buy the book. I'm not sure how to get the Kindle edition of the book for free without having to sign up for the Kindle Unlimted trial period.

Update: I am the "secondary" Prime member; my husband is the Primary account holder. When I signed into his Prime Account, I discovered that I could have access to the free Prime Reading books. So, just to clarify: This perk isn't available to secondary Prime members.
Ah, good to know, thanks for the detail!
