Poll Preview: A People Divided -- We at TidBITS prefer using Macs to anything else, but the reality of the computer industry is that Macintosh users are in the minority and are likely to remain so. We're curious about the mix of mainstream personal computer hardware that you use: how prevalent is PC use within the TidBITS readership? Note that for the purposes of this poll, we're leaving aside the question of what operating system you're using, and we're also leaving aside the issue of specialized workstations or personal computers of yesteryear. Disable Caps Lock
If you find yourself pressing the Caps Lock key accidentally as much as I do, note that you can disable it entirely in Mac OS X. Open the Keyboard & Mouse preference pane, click the Modifier Keys button, and in the dialog that appears, select No Action from the Caps Lock pop-up menu. You could remap it to another modifier instead, but that might make using differently configured Macs more difficult.
