Interarchy 7.2 Sports Useful New Features -- Stairways Software's Interarchy is a venerable file transfer utility, but two new features in the recently released Interarchy 7.2 are sure to be helpful to many users. A new Bookmark bar makes it easier to jump quickly to often-visited locations, and an Auto Uploads feature makes it possible to match a local folder to a remote destination, such that files dropped in the local folder automatically upload to the destination. Among other smaller changes, Stairways improved the contextual menu in Safari that makes it possible to download files from the Web using Interarchy. Interarchy 7 requires Mac OS X 10.2 or greater. If you already own Interarchy 7.x, the upgrade is free. [TJE]

First, add the Internet Productivity group by choosing File > Add Predefined Group > Internet Productivity Snippets. Then, to shorten a URL using a service like TinyURL, copy the destination URL to the clipboard, and type the abbreviation
/tinyurl to insert the shortened URL at the insertion point.
