Interesting read about US Apple Stores having lots of choice in peripherals etc. Traditionally Authorized Resellers in the (Apple Store-less) country where I live, the Netherlands, maintain this spartan boutique look: lots of empty space and black shelves with a single item on them, saying: we're too cool for choice. (Or: we're too expensive for choice, take your pick) So it's refreshing that Apple thinks different.

Actually, besides the Montpellier store in the south of France which will open next week, another Paris store near the Opera Garnier will open next summer.

In any case, as another Paris resident I applaud the opening of the first official Apple store. The Genius bar is a welcome addition. Several years ago I took advantage of a brief trip to London to consult the Genius bar at the local Apple Store when I had an annoying problem with my G4 PowerBook after a restore. It was solved while I waited, a far cry from the usual having to deposit the Mac, pay a fee, and wait till it was processed as is customary in 3rd part Mac repair places in Paris.
