Apple gives out very few pre-release iPhones for tech writers to review. The first batch of such reviews of the iPhone 5 dig deeper than Apple’s effusive marketing.

This came up in the MacJury podcast I did a few nights ago, and the general consensus is that it would certainly be nice if Apple would do such a thing, but they won't because they never do, and although we loyal customers will gripe about it, it's not going to make a difference in what we buy going forward, and the entire issue will disappear in 9-18 months.

But it certainly isn't good customer service on Apple's part, I agree entirely.

Yes, it would be nice if Apple did offer a free/discounted adaptor; it would also be nice if Santa Claus was real.
Consider:
1-Apple ships a Lightening USB cable (and USB wall wart) with each phone so the phone can connect to a computer for synching, powering.
2-a vast number of people synch wirelessly.
3-Assuming people who upgraded kept their old phones, their old docks/accessories still work; if they sold their old phone they have cash to purchase an adaptor
4-all media reviews of iPhone 5 have pointed out the need for an adaptor (David Pogue of NYT was especially pointed in his criticism of Apple's switch to the new connector).
Finally, I prefer the media dispassionately review the iPhone rather than advocating a point of view.

If no one is complaining that Apple does not make at least one convertor from 30 to 9 pin connector available to those that have bought previous iPhones for free or at least at a discount, that will never happen.
I think that it is a rip off and how can they just not care if they make all of their previous customers pay an additional $30 for a connecter? It is an outrage and what is more outrageous is that the media is backing off from making it a news item.

One possible solution (which I'll be writing about shortly once I've had time to confirm) is to reset all settings on the device. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. I believe it has to do with corrupt Safari bookmarks being synced by iCloud.

Not sure if you have seen or heard about the battery drain problems on the iPhone / iPad with the upgrade to iOS 6. I for one have experienced this since the upgrade. Fully charged last night before bed and the battery showed 34% charged early this morning. Did a Google search and there are a lot of people with the same problem.
