My biggest disappointment is that the newest iPad hasn't broken the 64gb limit. I'm still using my first generation wi-fi/cellular iPad with 64gb of storage, but running up against the storage limitations fairly hard. I primarily use it to show my photos to clients. I never "upgraded" to the iPad 2 because I needed the better display that was introduced with the "new" iPad. When the iPad 3 came out I'd already realized I required additional storage and put off the upgrade for the "4" that I assumed would finally be available with 128gb. What's the chance that the iPad 5 will include this option?

As an owner of a iPad2, I would try to get better photographing capabilities
-- in this respect, the iPad2 is a lame duck ;->

I would also choose a model with 3G/4G capabilities, as I was left alone with my Wi-Fi iPad2 last summer:
all holidays places are not equipped with WiFi
-- or the Wi-Fi doesn't work, thanks to Orange ;->>

I don't know what Apple would do. Possibly they have a bunch of iPad 3s around for this sort of customer problem, but it seems like one of those YMMV situations (Your Mileage May Vary).

I certainly understand the desire to have the latest and greatest. That being said I bought a new iPad 3 on August 15th of this year and knowing a new iPad would be released in October wouldn't have changed my decision one bit. I needed the device then and have been using it for the last 2 months and will continue to use it for months to come. At some future point I will replace it with a newer better model that will now doubt run circles around todays rev 4. Thats the nature of the computer and electronics industry and there's not much point getting worked up about it.

No, they understood the point perfectly. The iPad 3 is still exactly what it was the day people brought it. If it worked then, it works now.

I had a thought. I have Applecare + for my old new iPad. I managed to drop it so that it has a ding on the lower left corner where the earphones plug in. It still works fine even though I have to push and pull hard to insert and remove the earphone plug. Since it still worked, and I am likely to damage it again, I didn't have it replaced. What if I were to have it replaced for the $50 fee now or in the near future? Do you think they would replace with the new new iPad since they no longer would have the old new one in stock? Just hoping.

You miss the point. If I'd known in MARCH that the iPad 4 would be released in OCTOBER, I'd have waited and not replaced my iPad 1 with the iPad 3. That said however, I don't think the 4 is that great an advance over the 3, so I'm very happy with the 3. OTOH, I could box up my 3 and later ebay it as a "collectible"; possibly recouping enough to pay for both it and a 4.
Nah, I think I'll wait for the iPad 5 next Spring.
