TidBITS: Comments on 1Password 4 for iOS: Overhauled and Improved

The password-management app 1Password has been thoroughly revised for iOS. 1Password 4 sports a new and far better interface and a much-improved way to log in to Web sites within the program. It’s also now a single universal version.

It's there in the latest beta.

I'm not sure about you, but having used the new iOS browser I actually prefer using it to various apps if I can.
Hi there,

1. This is on Apple really. If you use the same AppleID for each device, then no. It's a universal app for both the iPhone and iPad. But a purchase is tied to your AppleID, so if you use a different AppleID for the App Store, then you will have to buy again. I personally use the same AppleID for all "app stores" and have a separate iCloud account

2. Sometime next year we hope.

3. Our Mac licensing is "Per User, Per Platform." So a single living breathing human being can install on any number of Macs they are the user of. Each user requires their own license.

The exception to this is the MAS. Their licensing is effectively any user so long as they use the same Apple ID, same as the iOS counterpart.

4. $50 is the current cost of the Mac App. MAS users get a free upgrade. No pricing announced for website

5. You'll need to add this up, or contact us support at agilebits.com. Space is too constrained here.

6.
I'm a long-time user, and was really teed that you can't search in portrait mode on the iPad. Really?

Also, the built-in browser is nice, but how many of us use a browser for password protected sites? Maybe forums, but not shopping, banking, utilities, etc. Those have their own apps and it's copy-switch-paste switch back, enter passcode, copy....etc. I realize that's an Apple issue, but you have to consider whether the app is worth that much for that utility. And make sure you make a copy of the older version if you have an original iPad or prefer running iOS 5; this won't work on that iPad or in 5.

Apple needs to get away from passwords anyway. In the meantime this is just OK. The desktop version still rocks though.
