A process camera operator prepares to "shoot" the pages to make large
photographic negatives.
The negatives of the page are then stripped into a suitable mask for
plate-making.
The plate-making machine uses intense light to etch an image of the
pages on a metal plate.
The offset printing plate is then scrubbed...
...and washed to remove the chemical residue.
Finally, the offset plates are mounted on a Goss Community Press for
printing...
...and the editor (Sylvia Onalfo) looks over the finished
product, which will be scanned and uploaded for automatic distribution to the iPad app used by the hundreds of subscribers to The Daily.
