Adobe Reader/Acrobat Pro 9.4.1
Adobe has updated Adobe Reader and Acrobat Pro to version 9.4.1, a release focused on patching multiple critical security vulnerabilities in the PDF programs. The patched security flaws could cause crashes or potentially allow a remote attacker to take control of your Mac. Adobe recommends all users of Acrobat and Reader 9.4 update immediately, either from within the software, or via the Adobe Product Updates page. Yeah, Adobe Reader X is a major update, and requires a bit more exploration.
How do you spell dreck? Adobe Reader is a kludge compared to Preview, with the sole advantage that it preserves hot links.
I'm not aware of any link awareness difference between Adobe Reader and Preview. Can you point me to an example?
This version did not fix the bug that plagues 9.4. After 9.4, Acrobat Pro's relationship to pdf documents was broken so you could not double click a pdf file and open it. The error message said Adobe could not open the file in pdf format.
I haven't seen that at all. Have you tried doing a Get Info on a PDF file, and in the Open With part of the Info window, choosing Acrobat Pro, and then clicking Change All? That should reset the binding of PDF to Acrobat Pro.
