Default Folder X 4.6.1

St. Clair Software has released Default Folder X 4.6 with support for tags in OS X 10.9 Mavericks in addition to the Open and Save dialog enhancement utility’s support for OpenMeta tags. The update also works around an issue that caused Default Folder X to use “ridiculous amounts” of memory, fixes a bug that caused Save dialogs in Microsoft Office 2011 to appear behind the document, ensures that tags are preserved when using Save As over an existing file, returns contextual menus, and correctly allows dragging of files to and from iCloud in an Open or Save dialog.

Default Folder X was updated to version 4.6.1 a few days later in order to fix a problem where Mavericks made the “desktop click” window visible even when Default Folder X wasn’t active, and to reduce the delay when switching between tabs in the Preview, Information, and Tags windows. Also note that while Default Folder X 4.6 and later no longer supports PowerPC applications, you can still download the PowerPC-friendly version 4.5.12 from the release notes page.
