The changes may be minor in Apple’s release of iTunes 10.2.2, but they’re still welcome. The update addresses an issue when iTunes can become unresponsive when syncing an iPad, and a separate issue that could cause syncing photos with iOS devices to take longer than necessary. Also corrected is an issue with skipping video previews in the iTunes Store. (Free, 75.59 MB)
The new Apple iTunes update is optimizing and re-synchronizing 7243 photos to my iPad. The other 3209 photos were in optimal form, presumably. This is better than the previous version of iTunes which would tell me there was not enough space on the iPad (untrue) and not wait for the optimizing to finish.
I can't download this update on my macbook-keeps saying error occurred & wants me to close Itunes, which wasn't open. Any ideas?

If you are willing to use the terminal, open it up and type in
ps auxww | grep -i iTunes
If there is one listed, then type
sudo killall iTunes
