iTunes 12.5.1
Apple has released iTunes 12.5.1 with a redesigned Apple Music section, user interface refinements that bring a cleaner look to the app (check out the Albums and Artists views), and support for iOS 10. It also adds a couple of new features that are exclusive to macOS 10.12 Sierra, including support for using Siri to play music from your iTunes library and Picture-in-Picture, which enables you to float a resizable video window in any corner of your screen. iTunes now requires 10.9.5 Mavericks or later. (Free, 262 MB via direct download or Software Update, release notes, 10.9.5+)

I'm sorry to see the colored backgrounds go. The algorithm that auto-generated the color palette always did a good job making things look interesting. Oh well.
Totally agree. I'm pretty bummed about it. I even created custom icons for my playlists to manipulate the background colors and highlights. It looked great. Gone.
This version of iTunes has spoiled the Artists view in my case.
Where previously I saw one of any given artist's album covers, as an icon next to the artist name, I now have a pastel microphone icon in 99.9% of cases.
The exception is those artists whose work I have purchased from iTunes. Here, I get a tiny and hard-to-recognize image of the artist. Unfortunately most of my music has been ripped or downloaded from CDs or CD-quality sources. (All paid for, if that matters.) I get only the pastel mike for all of these.
I would dearly love to have the older view back.
