Quicken 2015 for Mac 2.3.1
Intuit has released version 2.3.1 of its Quicken 2015 for Mac financial software with several new features, including a calendar view of transactions (both past transactions and future reminders), new reports (including Net Worth Over Time Report and Payee Summary Report), and display of alerts from the Quicken mobile app (in Quicken for Mac as well as in Notification Center). See “Quicken 2015: Close, But Not Yet Acceptable” (2 October 2014) for our initial coverage. The update also improves management of the payee list, adds an option for turning off security price updates, warns you when an attachment can’t be uploaded (while continuing to
sync to the cloud), improves matching of downloaded transactions, fixes a bug that prevented a newly entered transaction from being automatically sorted by date, and continues to improve Quicken Windows file conversion. Note that as of this writing, Quicken 2015 for Mac was still stuck at version 2.2 in the Mac App Store. ($74.99 new, free update, release notes, 10.7+)
When I saw there was Quicken 2015 for Mac, I couldn't believe it. I have been out of the loop for a while. I am still running Q2007 on Snow Leop. Early on I could never get a straight answer from Intuit whether they upgraded 2007 to work beyond Snow Leop. So I gave up trying. I read so many horror stories of data loss. I couldn’t afford to chance it. Once one upgraded & it didn’t work, one couldn’t go back. I have printed all household checks on Quicken since 1992. I have many custom reports saved. I never used online banking or bill pay so that going away did not bother me. Now as executor of my deceased brother's complicated estate for the last 2 years & 5 trips from Kansas to California to clean out my brother's & family home of 68 years, I haven't had time to spend on hold waiting to have Intuit confirm their updates of 2007 working beyond OSX 10.6.8.
Continued Comment from Susan:
I have 3 sets of Intuit sheet checks for 3 different bank Accts so I can print from Q2007 to pay all family bills, all my brother's estate bills, disbursements, etc, & a 3rd set for my Trust/Estate Admin expenses. It doesn't seem like Q2015 would be good for me yet, if Q2007 can be upgraded to work on Lion & beyond. No one has mentioned check printing. I could never hand write all those checks. Please, someone let me know how to get 2007 updates so I can upgrade my 2011 Macbook Air and Desktop Pro to at least Lion & possibly beyond. I am now ready! Thanks for any help on how to obtain the Q2007 upgrades and verify I can print checks. I am now on Quicken2007 16.0 - R1.
Susan - I'm running Quicken 2007 version 16.2.0 under Yosemite, which works just fine. The latest update to 16.2.0 was released in December 2014. I think you can get the update via the Check for Updates menu pull down in Quicken.
Are you able to print checks? That is the number one thing I need to make sure I will be able to do.
I don't use the check printing feature, so I can't comment from direct experience. I did browse the Quicken forums at http://qlc.intuit.com for Quicken 2007 printing and saw a reference to a minor bug in printing under Yosemite and a problem with printing 1 vice 3 checks under Mavericks that was fixable through the preferences. You might browse around and post a question there to see if anyone has had recent problems with printing under Quicken 2007. Sorry I couldn't help more.
Check printing works flawlessly for me.
Thanks so much, Art.
You're welcome. I should add that I print the full-page (3-part) voucher checks; the only adjustment that I recall making was to align the memo as desired — and that was done long before Q07 and Yosemite.
You need to buy the 2007 update. Here is what USED to be the link to buy the Lion+ version of 2007 for $15.00.
http://quicken.intuit.com/personal-finance-software/quicken-2007-osx-lion.jsp
Now that link will take you to 2015 version instead. You now need to CHAT with to them to get the 2007 Lion version, as we learn in this answer by macuser_22 twenty-seven days ago (Dec x, 2014):
https://qlc.intuit.com/questions/1038238-how-can-i-get-the-quicken-for-mac-2007-update-for-lion-compatible
"It seems that you can only get the Lion version (16.1.4) now by contacting Customer Support via chat.
I have seen that there is a $9.95 charge for chat, but they don't charge the $14.95 for the software any longer.

Do you have an update on this? Have they improved Quicken since you last reported on it?
Is Quicken 2015 improved enough to replace 2007? In January's article, it wasn't. I'm holding off until I hear that it is really a good replacement.
