Quicken 2017 for Mac 4.4.3
Quicken Inc. has released version 4.4.3 of its Quicken 2017 for Mac financial management app to fix a bug that inadvertently deleted bond interest income transactions. This bug was introduced in version 4.4.0 when Quicken started merging dividend and buy transactions into a single reinvested dividend, and you’ll need to add those transactions back manually. The update also resolves an issue where changing the description or address of an online bill pay payee with an “&” in the name could cause the payment to be rejected silently. This is promising. When I imported my Quicken 2007 data into 4.4.2 it missed a lot of investment transactions. I think they were mutual fund interest transactions but hopefully those will be addressed with this fix.
@Steve,
You were lucky to get your data into Q2017 so easily. I tried importing my Q2007 data file (containing 20 years of transactions) into Q2017, and it refused: 'data file could not be converted'. I spent hours on 'live chats' with Quicken tech support trying to get around the roadblock. They sent me a copy of Q2015, and suggested I try importing my data file into it, and then into Q2017. That worked, but almost all of my accounts had incorrect totals. Some of the balances were off by a few cents, others by thousands of dollars.
I also found that unlike Q2007, Q2017 doesn't support the Canadian market. There are no Canadian tax categories (and they can't be added), it doesn't support Canadian banks, and it assumed all my accounts are in $USD (which they're not).
I gave up on Q2017, and will keep using Q2007 for as long as I can. The only good thing I can say is that Quicken promptly processed a refund for my purchase.
