QuickTime 7.7 (Leopard-only)
Fear not, Leopard users, Apple is still watching out for you. QuickTime 7.7 for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard closes quite a number of security holes. As is common, we have no sense of how worrying these vulnerabilities really are, but it’s probably worth updating if you use QuickTime in Leopard. How the heck do you upgrade this thing?
I downloaded from the link you provided. When trying to install, when I got to "Destination" a got a 'block' saying that I need to use the software update.
Okay, so I launched QT 7.6.6 hit the software update and it said I was up-to-date.
Okay, so I App Zapped it. Tried the QT 7.7 installer still at square one.
I keep playing around, but if anyone has any suggestions...mucho appreciato :)

It's for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard only - it shouldn't install on Snow Leopard. I'll try to make that even more clear in the article.
The actual download link seems to be broken (around 4:15 PM PDT). Or am I the only one still getting the old QuickTime 7.6.9?
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ still downloads the old 7.6.9 dmg. File size matches my existing 7.6.9 file, so it's not just a graphics glitch.
Hopefully, Apple's on top of this.
Nevermind. As of 4:30 PM, seems to be fixed. (Now that's service!) New 68.9 MB .dmg file, so it's definitely not the old 68.6 MB 7.6.9 version.
It is not fixed for me! I have written Apple twice about downloading the old 7.6.9 version. Of course, they didn't respond! Today, 09 Aug, I still get the 7.6.9 version when I try to download on Leopard or Snow Leopard. I am using Leopard until I finish a video project with Final Cut Express.
