Radioshift 1.5.2
Rogue Amoeba’s Radioshift 1.5 snuck out at the very end of 2009, and has subsequently been followed by a pair of bug-fix updates. Major new features in Radioshift 1.5 include support for thousands of previously unsupported streams (including ones previously available only to Web-based players), better error-handling with faulty streams, easier installation of third-party players, an overhauled interface, independence from crashes in external audio playback engines, and auto-wake support for FileVault-protected home folders. Fixes in 1.5.1 and 1.5.2 resolve a problem with live listening of programs from the guide, properly preserve the listening history between launches, and address a
number of cosmetic issues. Full release notes are available. ($32 new, free update, 11.2 MB)
I enjoy Dixieland (classical jazz).
A search reveals a few stations with weekly hour-long programs of this music, none within my local fm reception range. Sigh.
My internet connection is a Verizon cellphone without a data plan that just charges minutes of use. Minutes are "free" after 9:01pm weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday.
Because I don't have a dedicated 24/7 connection I'm curious if it is otherwise possible (with some combination of hardward and software) to "program" the programs I want to download (like TV on a VCR), have them captured somehow, somewhere online so I can download manually periodically when convenient?
I'm open to any and all ideas that might achieve the same result.
If I'm understanding right, the problem is that Radioshift can record shows only when they're playing live, which likely wouldn't be when your off hours are. So, unless you could set a Mac elsewhere on the Internet to record whenever the shows are live, and then transfer the files manually to your Mac during your off hours, I think you're still more or less out of luck.
Sorry!
Still can't add stations myself.
I hear from the Rogue Amoeba folks that suggestions to the Guide can be made right from within the app, and you can also create manual subscriptions, as outlined in the Radioshift help files.
