Lock Screen Vulnerability Found in iOS 7
In iOS 7.0, a vulnerability has been discovered that allows anyone to bypass the Lock screen passcode. Swipe up from the bottom to access Control Center, then open the Clock app. Then hold the Sleep/Wake button until the option to power off the phone comes up. Tap Cancel, then quickly double-press the Home button, which brings up the multitasking screen, providing access to most open apps. Oops! To eliminate the problem for now, just disable Control Center on the Lock screen in Settings > Control Center. An Apple spokesperson said the company is working on a fix.
This only seems to work when the passcode is disabled, which is to say it's a really complex way to avoid simply using the normal "slide to unlock".
I'm using an iPhone 5 GSM with the iOS 7 GM, so maybe it functions differently with the released version or different hardware?
CNET confirmed the bug on the 4S, 5, 5c, and 5s, and I was able to replicate it last night. Like most of these Lock screen vulnerabilities, the timing has to be just so to get it to work.
I was able to bring up the 'open apps' access, however I wasn't able to actually launch any of the apps themselves, and certainly not browse any photos on an iPhone 4S!
Just double checked again and the only app I could actually launch was the camera app. Which you can access straight from the control centre anyway, however I could browse my photos via the 'hack', whereas you can't via the control centre directly!!
