Close Word Comments Easily

If you don't like how precisely you must mouse in Microsoft Word 2008 to delete comment balloons, note that you can Control-click (right-click) a balloon to pop up a contextual menu. From the menu choose Delete Comment, and you're done.

Also, to get rid of all comments at once, choose Tools > Customize Keyboard and set up a keyboard shortcut to go with the DeleteAllComments command, available in the Tools category. Oddly, there's no Delete Comment keyboard customization option that I can find.

We offer a free weekly mailing of 5–10 of our top articles along with regular features, such as important software updates and worthwhile reading elsewhere on the Web. The Issue versions contain the full text of all articles. The Announcement versions contain only article titles, a brief summary, and links to the full articles. Both versions are available in plain-text and HTML versions.

Also, we fund TidBITS in part through a paid membership program, and TidBITS members can choose to receive new articles as soon as they are posted throughout the week, among much else. See the full list of TidBITS member benefits.

To subscribe, first sign up for a free account. Then you can choose which list or lists to receive.

Please note: We run various other mailing lists separately via the open-source Mailman software; to subscribe, unsubscribe, change to or from digest mode, and browse the list archives, visit the appropriate Info page below:
