Aladdin Stuffs In More Features

Today, Aladdin began shipping StuffIt Deluxe 4.5, the more-powerful, commercial version of Aladdin’s suite of non-commercial compression software that offers extensive file compression and encoding features. The press release isn’t entirely clear on what is new in 4.5, but a few improvements include: speedier operations, Mac OS 8 compatibility (especially for StuffIt’s True Finder Integration technology), contextual menu support, and expansion of encrypted Zip files. To run the software, you need a Macintosh with 4 MB RAM running System 7.1.1 or newer. StuffIt Deluxe costs $129 (SRP); those who purchased version 4.0 after 26-Jul-97 can upgrade for a $9.95 shipping fee, and anyone who owns a previous version can upgrade for $29.95 plus tax and shipping. For international customers, the shipping cost increases to $19.95. Discounted upgrades are available only through 31-Dec-97.
