New Apple Storefronts Perform
Slightly lost within the announcements of the new PowerBook G3s and the iMac last week were the openings of the Apple Store for Education and the Apple Store UK, which is the first step in making the Apple Store available to users in Sweden, Holland, France, Germany, Australia, and Japan. It’s great to see Apple finally opening up online ordering to the education community and to Macintosh users in other countries. Success came quickly to the Apple Store for Education, as an Apple announcement reported that it received over $1 million in orders during its first 24 hours of business. That announcement also noted that thanks to the new PowerBook G3s, the main Apple Store received a record $1.9 million in orders in a single 24-hour period.
