If you were hoping to tinker with the new near-field communication (NFC) hardware in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, we have bad news: it can be used only for Apple Pay, at least for now. Security Editor Rich Mogull suspects this was a limitation demanded by the banks. On other manufacturers’ devices, the NFC chip can be used to read signals from NFC tags and invoke a variety of actions.
