1Password 3.6
AgileBits has introduced 1Password 3.6, a significant update to its password- and identity-management software. According to the company’s blog post, this update adds a few important features — notably, support for the just-released Firefox 5 and the upcoming OS X Lion and Safari 5.1. 1Password is now also compatible with the site-specific browser Fluid, a program that lets users create instances of the browser to use with specific Web-based apps like Gmail. Alas, some functionality is also going the way of the dodo, as AgileBits has dropped
support for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and PowerPC-based Macs in this release. Full release notes are also available. ($39.99 new, free update, 17.2 MB)
Another company slaps its loyal customers in the face.
You've really got to take it down a notch. The number of PowerPC customers is ever declining, and the ability for a software company to support 6+ year old hardware isn't trivial or free. People with old computers aren't often likely to buy new software.
Or are you referring to the drop in 10.5? That doesn't surprise me: 3.5 is a mature product. Adding new features means signing on to the "new" platform, now a few years old, because that's where the users will be found.
