John Norstad of Northwestern University this weekend released version 2.9 of his free anti-virus utility, Disinfectant. Version 2.9 detects the T4 virus, two strains of which were discovered in several locations around the world late last month. CE Software is now shipping new versions of Alarming Events, a personal scheduling software, and QuicKeys, a macro making program. In addition CE has reduced the suggested retail price of Alarming Events to $99.95. Fulfilling an old promise to allow integration between QuickMail and non-mail applications, CE Software recently announced QuickMessenger, an API (or application programming interface) that will allow developers to enable their applications to send QuickMail messages. QuickMessenger includes eleven routines that may be called by any application to perform such operations as sending messages or files, searching for user addresses via the NameServer, looking up the contents of QuickMail address books or groups, and obtaining lists of MailCenters and zones

LC II Ethernet Card -- Users who have an old Macintosh LC Ethernet Card and need to use it with a Mac LC II (if, for example, they have upgraded their LCs to LC IIs) will need to upgrade the card to a Macintosh LC II Ethernet Card

Once again Apple has shown they mean business with their plans to offer a steady stream of new products. Just today, the company introduced its new series of commercial system enhancement software, and replaced the Quadra 900, only seven months old, with the new Quadra 950. CE Software has been in the press quite a bit lately, and deservedly so. The latest piece of news out of West Des Moines, Iowa, is that CE has announced two new pieces in the QuicKeys product line, one of which will ship later this month. Apple has announced that its AppleShare 3.0 upgrade offer will be ending at the end of April. The offer, introduced last fall with the new version of the file server software, allows owners of previous versions to upgrade free or at a reduced price.
