Acorn 8.5

Flying Meat has released Acorn 8.5 with a new Shape Processor, an added Arrow shape style, and several SVG updates. The image editor adds the Random Location from Circle, a Shape Processor that can randomly move all shapes inside, outside, or along the edge of the adjustable circle (great for abstract projects). The new Bendable Arrow shape allows you to curve arrows across the canvas. The SVG parser for Acorn has been updated to support more element types and styles, improve element transforms, and add support for text on a path, embedded images, and drop shadows on elements. The update also allows you to set compression options when exporting an image as TGA, ensures Undo works correctly when using the Free Rotate tool, improves performance with Bézier paths and arrows so they use less memory, addresses a problem where you couldn’t edit existing text, fixes a bug where Instant Alpha wouldn’t work on selections after they were moved with the mouse, and updates the German, French, and Spanish localizations. ($29.99 new from Flying Meat and the Mac App Store, 20% discount for TidBITS members, free update, 87.7 MB, release notes, macOS 14+)
