Bookends 15.2
Sonny Software has published Bookends 15.2 with a new “native” scanning option for importing Microsoft Word documents. You can select between the previous RTF method and the new native scan option in Settings > Scan & Bib. The native scan option requires that the document has been saved as a DOCX file. The key differences between these two scan styles are that native scans have no size limit for the document you can scan, are not vulnerable to known Word AppleScript bugs, and include automatic verification of temporary citations.
The reference management tool also improves the Find in Bookends search from within Word; improves Find Reference in Mellel; enables you to select a name, word, or phrase in Word and invoke Floating Citations by double-tapping the trigger key to search your library immediately; allows you to set the first content page for any PDF; improves support for dealing with corrupted libraries; addresses a problem in the Floating Citations window where the Copy Citation options were not enabled, fixes the Forward keyboard shortcut in the PDF action menu, corrects an issue where Bookends would not run on macOS versions prior to macOS 11 Big Sur, and fixes a regression that prevented the multi-chapter bibliography scan options from being presented in the scan dialog.
