Parallels Desktop 26
Matching Apple’s new macOS numbering scheme, Parallels has issued version 26 of its Parallels Desktop for Mac virtualization software with support for macOS 26 Tahoe and Windows 11 (25H) as well as many under-the-hood enhancements. The upgraded app updates icons across the board on Macs running Tahoe, enables Windows to assess the available disk space on your Mac accurately, improves the behavior of full-screen Windows apps in Coherence mode (allowing your Mac to go into sleep mode normally), fixes a bug that caused the Persona 5 Royal video game to crash on launch in Windows 11 virtual machines, adds out-of-the-box support for new Linux distributions, and resolves an issue that prevented Parallels Tools for Linux from installing correctly on CentOS 10 running on Intel-based Macs. Parallels also improves the overall virtual machine experience with better VPN and network handling, clipboard sharing, drag-and-drop improvements, and snapshot switching. Parallels Desktop now requires macOS 13 Ventura or later.
You can purchase the standard edition of Parallels Desktop as a $219.99 one-time purchase or a $99.99 annual subscription. Users with a previously purchased perpetual license can upgrade to the standard edition for $53.99. Both the Pro and Business editions are available only via annual subscriptions—$119.99 and $149.99, respectively. Upgrading to a Pro edition subscription from a previous version is priced at $45.49. All three editions are currently discounted by 35% for a limited time. ($99.99 annual subscription for Standard Edition, $119.99 annual subscription for Pro Edition, $149.99 annual subscription for Business Edition, upgrades available, 5.4 MB installer, release notes, macOS 13+)
I do use Paralles for working on Excel 365 for Windows 11. But I am not happy that the non-subscription version has a limit of using only 4 cores and 8 Gb of RAM. I do not want to move to the subscription version because I like to have the liberty of upgrading at my own pace (time and money). So I am not sure if I will be upgrading this year to version 26. The current version already allowed me to upgrade my Windows 11 installation to the 25H1 version and it is working fine so far. Probably will wait until next year and buy it at a better discount price…
