Pixelmator Pro 2.4.2

The Pixelmator Team has released Pixelmator Pro 2.4 (nicknamed Odesa), a big update for the image editor that brings a redesigned Layers sidebar, new vector shapes, and support for the M1 Ultra processor. The enhanced Layers sidebar updates the subtitles to show info such as sizes, text formatting, and path info for shape layers; customizes the viewing options with settings for thumbnail size and visibility of layer subtitles; and moves the blending controls to the top of the sidebar by default.

New color adjustments and effects layers enable you to nondestructively adjust colors and apply effects to all the layers below them in a composition with even hundreds of layers. The release also adds over 200 new artist-designed vector shapes; improves the speed of tasks like automatic background removal, super-resolution, and photo enhancement on M1 Ultra-based Macs; introduces a Scrubby Zoom mode to make it easier to zoom images when using a graphics tablet or mouse; and enables the creation of masks by Command-dragging layers onto other layers.

The Pixelmator Team quickly released two maintenance updates (version 2.4.1 and 2.4.2) to address issues such as the Pixelmator Pro extension failing to work on Intel-based Macs. ($39.99 new from Pixelmator and the Mac App Store, free update, 449 MB, release notes, macOS 10.15+)
