Rogue Amoeba has issued SoundSource 5.8.1 with an update for the Audio Routing Kit (ARK) plug-in, which powers SoundSource’s audio handling. ARK 12.2.2 resolves an issue that caused distortion due to sample rate mismatches and works around a macOS-related crash that could occur when installing or updating the plug-in. The release also now displays the Roon app and its RAATServer as a single source, ensures that audio is correctly muted for processes sending to a device operating in exclusive (“hog”) mode, and fixes an issue where CPU usage could spike when using Audio Units.
