Unite 6.0

BZG has issued Unite 6.0, a “transformational” update for the site-specific browser that lets you turn websites into full-featured Mac apps. The new version offers a redesigned app creation experience with improved accessibility and a new light mode; adds support for sharing apps with other Macs; brings advanced tab controls that allow you to pin, isolate, rename, and lock tabs, and prevent duplicate tabs; sets the sidebar as the default mode and positions it for optimal workflow; intelligently hides and displays the toolbar as you open and close new tabs; adds context-aware right-clicking on links within Unite apps; adds support for using Touch ID for secure passwords; and enables you to download or view PDFs directly within Unite apps. Unite 6 is priced at $29.99 for a single license, and owners of Unite 5 licenses can upgrade for $19.99. ($29.99 new with a just-added 20% discount for TidBITS members, $19.99 upgrade, in Setapp, 26.5 MB, release notes, macOS 12+)

  1. The TidBITS membership price seems to be the same as the normal price. I’m also not clear if there supposed to be a discount in the upgrade price for TidBITS members?

  2. Hmm! The 20% discount for TidBITS members seems to be working for me (also on all the options for multi-unit licenses) when I add it during checkout. I don’t think it works for upgrades, but I’ll check.

  3. Ah, I see, I misread the final two sentences. I thought the sentence that started with ‘Unite 6 is priced at $29.99 for a single license…’ was giving the normal price, and the sentence in the brackets ‘($29.99 new with a just-added 20% discount for TidBITS members…’ was giving the discounted price. In other words, I was reading the sentence in the brackets as ‘$29.99 is the price with a 20% member’s discount’. I see now that the sentence can be read as simply restating the prices in the previous sentence and noting that there is an additional 20% discount for TidBITS members.

Thanks for checking about whether it applies to upgrades!

  4. Sorry, but the discount isn’t available for upgrades.
