Elgato Goes All-In on HomeKit; Changes Name to Eve Systems

Apple-focused hardware maker Elgato Systems is going all-in on HomeKit, Apple’s home automation framework. Before entering the home automation market, the company was known primarily for its video capture and streaming devices, like EyeTV (which Elgato sold to Geniatech in 2016) and Game Capture boxes. Elgato has announced that it will focus exclusively on HomeKit-enabled home automation accessories, so it is changing its name to Eve Systems and selling its gaming division to PC gaming company Corsair. This move would seem to indicate that the HomeKit market is strong enough for Elgato to bet its business on.
