Apple Opens Repair Program for iPhone 14 Plus Rear Camera Failure

Has your iPhone 14 Plus rear camera stopped providing a preview? Apple says a very small percentage of iPhone 14 Plus units manufactured between 10 April 2023 and 28 April 2024 may exhibit this problem. The company has started a repair program to fix the problem for free.

If your iPhone 14 Plus is experiencing the problem, you’ll need to use Apple’s serial number checker to see if it’s eligible for repair. Look up its serial number in Settings > General > About. Touch and hold the serial number until a Copy popover appears. Tap that to copy the serial number to the clipboard, which you can then paste into the form on Apple’s repair program page.

If your iPhone 14 Plus has the problem and is covered, you can get it fixed by an Apple Authorized Service Provider, make an appointment at an Apple Store, or contact Apple Support and arrange mail-in service via the Apple Repair Center.

  1. I hope my iPhone 15 Plus does not have the same problem.

Just before seeing this email I had the freaky experience of trying to scan a QR code for a website, but the camera preview screen came up blank. Quitting the camera app and coming back did not fix it. A reboot did.
