Designer Transforms Mac mini Into Lego-Inspired Workstation

Designer Paul Staal writes:

The M2x2 is a functional homage to the classic Lego computer brick, upscaled and re-imagined as a high-performance workstation. This project bridges the gap between play and productivity. Transforming something bland and impersonal into something that combines the aesthetics and charm of the Macintosh, the playfulness and modularity of the LEGO system, and the power of modern silicon. It demands intention, rewards curiosity, and turns every desktop interaction into a moment of tactile satisfaction.

If only the M2x2, not OpenClaw, was actually driving the shortage of Mac minis! Staal’s design is a fully functional M4 Mac mini enclosure styled after classic Lego computer bricks, complete with a 7-inch display plus an integrated media control knob and a MagSafe charging pad cleverly built into the studs on top. For those interested in tackling the project, Staal provides 3D printing plans and a shopping list that can probably come in under $100—assuming you already have a Mac mini and access to a 3D printer.
