The results from our first pair of Do You Use It? polls are in, and if TidBITS readers are representative, Stage Manager hasn’t been a big win for Apple.

Apple has updated all of its operating systems, adding the Freeform digital whiteboard app, support for Advanced Data Protection for iCloud, Apple Music Sing, Stage Manager on external displays, and various smaller improvements. A fix for a serious security vulnerability encourages updating soon.
In many ways, iPadOS 16’s marquee new feature is Stage Manager, which brings windowing to the iPad—or at least M1-based iPads. But it won’t be available on the vast majority of iPads. Are there legitimate technical limitations or is Apple trying to push hardware upgrades?
